Last day of 2008

Today, on the last of 2008, we managed to get Andre to level 100. As a result, he is now able to use the costume recipes from his shop at Reb. Using our existing stock of fabrics and supplementing from the market (to the tune of about 3 million vis), our Andre was able to craft the Clara Mago, Rosa Matrimonio, and Camisa de Soldado costumes. Pictures will be forthcoming in a few days.

Christmas event

Today, the AMs held a Christmas event at the Bridge. It was a bunch of Dev bosses normally found in Old Port Coimbra. As such, all Vets that arrived were defeated quickly. Bringing characters lower than level 84 didn't help either. However, the event did continue to stage 2 which seemed to be much easier. Unfortunately, there didn't seem to be any drops.

Change, that's where it's at!

Our clan has a new administration. With our former leader Lincourt taking an undetermined leave of absence, she appointed a new leader who in turn, changed the list of vices. As whether this is a positive development, only time will tell. It is expected to take two days to reorganize and for the new leader to settle in.

Oni did disband yesterday with its clan leader and core members leaving the game and heading to greener pastures. A new Oni clan was created with a single absent member who I would assume is to hold the Oni name before any others can tarnish it.

Oni is disbanding?

From the farewell broadcasts, it seems that the Oni clan is disbanding tonight. I'm happy about this as I have put the Oni clan on our List a month before due to one of their members PKing us. If they really do disband, they would mean the 2nd clan that have coincidentally disbanded after being on our List which has contained only 2 clan names so far.

It's so nice to have a personal clothing designer. We were able to craft a level 84 Elite Laranja e Preto for a total of about 14.4 million. We paid 2 million for the recipe, 12.4 million for 2 High Quality Sapphires, and 10,000 for an Orange Dye. We already have a whole bunch of Pure Talt, Pure Aidanium, and Reinforced Leather. Normally, we would see this armor on the market for at least 20 million. For now, our Viki shall wear this armor such that our only level 80 Ancestral Leather Armor can be passed on to either Karjalain or Emilia.

Bare fisted fighting

Today, we saw the current holder of the baron back costume. There is only 1 family per server that gets to possess this costume at any given time. At the moment, it is icebladers.
Bored with the usual grind, a few of us decided to do some naked fist fighting between musketeers and Calyce. This meant that our characters were fighting each other bare handed and without wearing any armor. We had one victory and one loss.

Random pics of today

Brunie has an interesting bazaar outfit. Kurt really does look like a girl...

The girl in the pink dress is an AM.

What's happening with the rest of the family?

Currently, Andre (faminine man) and Viki (gender confused) has been training together at El Canon de Diablolica. Andre has finally reached the level where he was able to successfully craft a level 84 Elite Striform for a customer yesterday. This pair was able responsible for gathering the Treasure Cores that has been making millions for the family recently.

Karjalain and Emilia are currently training in Rion Dungeon Hollows. This pair of young women seem like an annoyed bunch of little girls but have been making great progress ever since they started in Pradera.

The martial artist pair, Gracielo and Soso, has been occasionally training in Porto Bello Desolate Cliffs. They've been quiet and not much news can come from them.

Hell Gate

This afternoon, we ventured in to Hell Gate (located in El Canon) and managed to pass it successfully.

Treasure Core inflation

Tonight, I look a look at the market and was surprised at how much Treasure Cores sold for. It was a range between 50k and 57k vis. Many months ago, when I first heard about them, they sold for about 3k each. Just 1 or 2 months ago, it was going for about 10k each. Taking advantage of the situation, I managed to sell a few dozen Treasure Cores for 47k each and made several million vis. It sure beats selling scrap equipment and minerals to the NPCs.

Ancient Diablo

Saw an Ancient Diablo yesterday after we wandered through a glowing red gate right outside of Reb. It was quite powerful and quite a few Mirage clan members were noticed just waiting at the side.

Capybara Dungeon

Tonight, we decided to go spelunking in the Capybara Dungeon. We reached the end and was momentarily blocked by a stone. Fortunately, someone inserted 4 keys and we were transported to the 2nd level.

Running through the maze that is the 2nd level, we came upon a second stone. Again, someone had some keys and we were able to proceed to the third level. Unfortunately, we did not have good pictures of that third level.

We attempted the mission tonight. It took 3 tries just to sneak past the fat creatures hovering behind the main door. On the mission itself, we were all defeated in less than a second, before the summoned creatures even had a chance to come near us. Needless to say, we are not going to get past this mission today and perhaps ever.

Continuing with the story....

We had Grace, Romina, and our wizard Louise participate in the Joaquin Prison expedition. Those creatures were endless and Romina along with the rest of the expedition didn't fare so well. With just Grace and Louise and a whole bunch of Healing potions, we managed to take down the center colony. It was quite a fitting role for Grace to join in this quest as she was part of the storyline.
The next part was finding Garcia Gygax at Feruccio's Wall. It was a difficult place and only Maria (fighter) made out out of a group that included Iris (musketeer), Florence (scout), and Louise (wizard). Apparently, the Reapers there could see past the Invisibility spell. However, it did help in covering territory in the search for Gygax

Garcia seems pretty weak and also quite submissive to Selvia, always following her around.
Apparently, Selvia gets annoyed when people follow her around.

We just had a hunt for 50 Ice Crystal, 50 Philosopher's Stones, and 10 Determinations (quest items) and it was pretty easy to gather them. The resulting fight with Montaro was sort of difficult though as he casts some sort of wide area spell that results in repeated physical damage (perhaps shrapnel?). In any case, he escaped at half health and now we have to visit Novia at the Fortress. That's a story for another day.

What to do with 70 Veteran Polishers?

That Bahamar Witch quest resulted in a influx of Veteran Polishers for us. No longer do we need to be miserly and hoarding them for that special day. We can probably create all the equipment that we need. Now the question becomes, what shall we create?

In terms of armor, it was said that Veteran Polisher armors have the same DR as level 84 Elite armors. However, the Veteran Polisher armors will lack certain inherent attributes such as an increase in attack speed (Elite Striform) and evasion (Elite Laranja) in addition to not having a chance for DR enchantments. At a cost of 6 polishers each, it didn't seem worth it at the time.

A fellow player helfires recommended that the polishers should be spent on weapons instead. Veteran Polisher weapons seem have 1 AR more than level 84 Elite weapons and 1 AR less than level 92 Elite weapons. As level 92 Elite weapons are extremely expensive (last checked at 50 million vis), these Veteran Polisher weapons make for cheap but great substitutes, especially when fighting against the environment.

So in terms of Veteran polisher weapons, we currently have a shotgun and a pistol. There is absolutely no need for a polearm nor a shield. One handed swords seem useless and at least for AR, certain level 100 weapons such as 2H swords and rods have become affordable. Bracelets are highly desirable though but which element is debatable.

Elite Striform for Iris

We never did take picture of our family's 2nd Elite Striform until now.

Finished the Bahamar Quests

Tonight, we finished the Bahamar Witch questline. There were many rewards along the way with the final item rewards being the Witch Hat (fits female stock characters who've reached level 100) and the Steel Fortress Chess weapon recipe (32 AR polearm). Also, we now have a total of 70 unused Veteran Polishers (used 8 so far).

Elite Wasp

Finally found the Elite Wasp on the north side of the Witch's house. It looked only slightly larger than a regular Wasp and wasn't much more powerful.

Somehow, the starting location get set to Bahamar Wetlands. As I am running low on warp scrolls, we'll have to make the long journay back to civilization by foot.

Bahamar Quests

Progressing on the Bahamar quest line tonight. Completed up to the part where Mysterious Water is required. Sierra's hut looks bigger on the inside than outside.
There was a scary moment where Florence and Iris were nearly knocked out by Sierra's summoned creatures but they miraculously bounced back. If they were truly knocked out, I doubt Maria would have been able to finish the mission within the time limit.

Katovic quests

Finished a portion of the Katovic quests, up to the point where we collect rare ingredients to make some sort of soup. Apparently, those Golden Apples, Beets, and Cabbages are pretty rare. Most of the quest goals were completed by Maria alone, while in Defender stance as she was able to consistenly survive, concentrate on a single creature type, and ignore the rest. The above picture shows Ryrin Heart located in the Frozen Waste.
Our wizard Louise was also able to survive so long as she was in Levitation stance and has SP refill potions. Unfortunately, there are some ground based creatures with antlers that were able to hit her so she wasn't able to make it through the entire questline. We also tested a team with Iris (musketeer), Florence, and Grace. This high damage gun toting team was able to survive so long as there are less than 5 creatures attacking. Any more than that and Florence's Heals will be unable to keep up. I think I'll try using this combination to look for the soup ingredients.

Sight shot

Iris testing out Sight Shot in Skeleton Nest. Outrage Shot uses way too many bullets.

Lair of Jormongand

Tonight our clan ventured into the Lair of Jormongand. We had 17 families participating but the first boss, Reydeavaricia, was very tough. It was pretty easy to get his health down to half and even down to a quarter. However, at that point, he seems to switch tactics and fire off bright green balls of slime that kill people in 1 hit. It also had a strong knockback for the target usually fllies back and hits the wall. This made Florence's job pretty easy as she just needed to run circles around the room and ressurect the bodies flying her way. Those green balls did hit her quite a few times too. About 200 ressurection potions was used in this venture.

Louise's initial job as the wizard was to cast Dispel whenever the boss casts Protection on himself. Even though the Dispel would get rid of his spell icon, the effect seems to still be there.

In other news, Iris, our musketeer, has reached Veteran status and have learned the Sight Shot and Outrage stances. She will most likely be the last family member to reach Veteran status as we have exhausted our supply of Veteran scrolls and Gold. With this, we have all 5 of the stock characters in Veteran status plus Grace, who is a great leveler.

Clan event

Today, our clan held a clan only event. It's basically something do within the clan. First we split into 2 squads as the number of members exceeded the maximum squad member limit. Afterwards, the event organizer activated a bunch of expensive spinelles. I heard that he spent 20 million on them. Since we were still together, a bunch of us tended into the city to fight each other. At the end, it was a one on one fight between Fighters with my Grace just resting on the ground.

2 more Veterans

Today Grace and our wizard Louise reached Veteran status. Louise learned the Incantation stance and Grace learned the Gigante Blaster stance. Picture above is Grace's new Veteran Ancestral shotgun.

Interchange Lobby 4

We had some intense times at the Interchange Lobby 4 missions last night. On the first instance, the bosses swarmed us from the north side and managed to destroy our base. The lesson from that was to destroy the boss bases quickly before they got to our base. Taking the lesson to heart, we completed the mission successfully on the second instance. The third instance was interesting as we did destroy the bases and it seemed that we were going to success but bosses kept coming. Soon we were swamped with bosses in the northern hallway and Provoke was what we 3 Fighters could do to keep them from heading towards our base (all our other family members were down). As all we had to do was to wait for the timer to run out, we managed to succeed in that mission too.

Memorable drops were a recipe for an Elite level 84 great sword (useless as the ingredients cost more than the weapon itself), bunch of Mega Talts, and a level 96 enchantment chip.

Another new record

Another new record for Cabinet Pieces this afternoon. Managed to obtain 18 Cabinet Pieces which included the final 2 to complete the set. The reward was a recipe for a Shadrachi, a level 76 Great Sword.

Day's activities

Today, we managed to obtain a record 15 Cabinet pieces from Joaquin Prison. That's almost all of the overturned boxes of the map. We also brought an Elite level 84 Striform (coat exclusive for musketeers) and an Elite level 84 Mantis Rod from the market.

On the forums, there seems to be a thread about the rise in price of Mysterious Powders. (at 500,000 vis each) Fortunately, we've budgeted our Mysterious Powders to last till at least the end of the year. This includes obtaining the Bahamar Veteran stances (Gigante Blaster, Sight Shot, Outrage Shot, and Mighty Cruz) and Veteran Pioneer equipment.

Saturday, November 8, 2008

A quick fight with Geroro this afternoon. These fights usually last less than 3 minutes hence it was difficult to capture a good picture of him. I got a level 96 Dragonlance out of it which should be good except that I already have a better polearm. I'll keep it for looks though and perhaps as emergency cash.

Odd back costumes

Tonight in Port Coimbra, we encountered a Ceres clan family whose two members had weird back costumes that I've rarely seen. The first looked like a pair of flaming horns while the second looked were a set of 4 red wings. Those flaming horns are quite useful in dark places like El Canon though as it makes the character easy to spot and follow.

Today's activities

We stumbled upon La Tierra d'Amor today. It was totally empty and desolate, without a soul in sight. However, while running through the passages, we did come across a few other Royalists.
We managed to obtain 10 Cabinet pieces from Joaquin Prison today. It was a race against other players to see who can defeat the mobs that comes out of the overturned boxes as they only appeared 2 times a day. Fortunately, Grace's Implosion skill was a great help as it was able to defeat those mobs in 1 hit, even faster than other people's Veteran characters.
We also figured out what the Jade Unknown Ore was for. It's for a Jewel quest in Auch. We collected over 700 this afternoon alone.

Halloween Pumpkin Hat

It looks like everyone received a Halloween Pumpkin hat tonight. Now Louise will be able to fly with her broomstick to scare the little kids.

Glitch in the world

Tonight, we managed to hunt down some of those infamous red error boxes. This box was so close that we actually reached up and touched it. I think a tree used to be there.

Giant shotguns

I haven't really taken a good look at Grace's shotgun until recently and am surprised at how large it is. One wonder how the recoil doesn't knock her off her feet. This particular shotgun (level 80 ancestral/pioneer) works particularily well against the hordes of mobs in El Canon de Diabolica. Combined with the wizard's levitation stance attack, the creature that stands a chance against us is the Violent Ghost Baron.

Elite Albaes (level 84)

Yesterday night, Louise reached level 84 along and managed to fit into her new Elite Albaes dress. It's bright green and has a nice shimmer.

Testis Book

This weekend, we finally obtained Viki's Testis Book. It was a major pain. We started Saturday with about 126 Mega Aids and managed to buy the rest at the market for between 60k to 69k each. Afterwards, we had had to hunt for 200 Bulks of Gold. Fortunately, we had enough Golden Fruits. Just when we thought it was over, there was a part 2.

Part 2 involved 200 Bulks of Coal, 200 Bulks of Silver, 50 Philosopher's Stones, and 60 Mega Erets. It was a pain but we managed to finish this quest at last.

Resigned from clan

This Saturday, we resigned from the clan that we were apart of for more than half a year. Specifically, we resigned right after we finished with the overturned boxes at Joaquin. It was an orderly exit as the head of the clan knew about it and another clan member had resigned hours earlier. The head stated that she would be the last to go or at least one of the last once things are organized. Now that we are clanless, the world seems like a lonelier place.

Screaming of Spirits

This weekend, we finally completed the Screaming of Spirits portion of the quest line. This meant waiting till 4PM EST in front of one of the overturned boxes for the larger than usual creature to jump out. There were other families there hunting for them but fortunately, we only needed to kill 1 for the quest item. After this quest, there was an exchange of letters between cities and we eventually ended up at Bahamar.

At Bahamar, we had to hunt for 6 Pioneering Seals level 9. Unfortunately, only Maria (our fighter) was able to survive in the swamp but she was successfully in single handedly defeating hundreds of spiders to obtain the 6 seals. It's amazing how well the Defender stance works.

The next part of the quest is to defeat the Swamp Angler but from our research, it will be difficult even with a squad. I guess that'll stay on hold for awhile.

From the weekend

The only thing of interest this weekend was the brief fight between DalValtiez of SwordoftheDragon and Kilroy of TheOne at the Old Port of Coimbra during the Faction War on Saturday night. There was a huge skeleton raid boss involved and the two was running in circles around the colony.

Wizard costume details

I just love how detailed these costumes are. For this particular costume, that tattoo on her chest is reflective yet her skin isn't. This means that the intricate lines of the tattoo design shimmers along with the ruffles of her dress.

Costume restoral for pre 2.4 characters

Today, I noticed that the requested 5 costumes appeared in our inventory. These were costumes in compensation for switching the static costumes to the current system of costumes for characters created before version 2.4. As I had one of each type, I requested 5 costumes. It's so nice for the company to do this.
Metallic Suit for the fighter. I know of no way to currently get this costume from within the game.
Some red costume for the musketeer. I've seen a few characters with this rare costume so it must be available somehow. The other option I was considering was a blue version which could be achieved by wearing an elite striform armor.
Rescue Suit for the scout. The same look as be achieved by wearing the Rescue Suit armor, which is actually quite common. There were no other interesting Scout costumes to choose from as I already have her green skimpy one as a veteran costume and the orange one as an armor.
I've seen a few low level characters with this costume but do not know how to obtain it. There were many other interesting costumes for the elementalist that were unavailable in-game but I thought their appearance were too similar to the other existing costumes.
Another rare costume that I've seen only only 1 other family.
