Christmas Event Day 2

We managed to save 1 Rudolph from the Gold mission before time ran out, 1 Rudolph from the Silver mission (don't really know how they determine how many appeared at the end), and 3 Rudolph from the Bronze mission.  Unfortunately, we still don't have a complete set of Santa equipment and hence still don't have any coins.  Instead have now have 5 Santa Mufflers and multiples of other items. We were initially hoping to try for the Rudolph pet but it looks out of the question now.  We would be lucky to even get enough coins for even a single costume accessory at this rate.

Server's up and Christmas Event

Bristia became available a few days ago and the Christmas Event apparently started yesterday.  We traded for a set of keys from Santa Nunez and attempted the 3 missions.  On the Bronze mission, we only managed to rescue 2 of the Rudolph reindeer that were guarded by Emily and Celine.  By the time we reached Mario, the other 2 had fallen.  On the Gold mission, we had help from our clan leader but I did not manage to get any of the eggs to hatch.  The Silver mission seemed the most straightforward as it seemed to only involve defeating the Ghost of Novia and the various crystals without the worry of Rudolph/eggs expiring.  In any case, we did not manage to get a complete set of Santa items from the missions and therefore, we did not get a single coin.

We also received some Christmas gifts from our clan leader in the form of the new Wizard costumes and musketeer hat that were released from the new boxes.  We purchased the new Scout costume from the market to complete the set.  As we do not have good picture taking equipment at the moment (we're away for the holiday), we'll do a photo session later.

Entertaining circus run

We had an entertaining Circus Arsene raid last night.  Although we didn't win, it was probably one of the most interesting circus runs in recent memory.  The initial team was composed of our clan leader with his master fighter (main tank and damage dealer), one of our vice clan leaders with his master Lisa (secondary damage dealer), a fellow clan member with her veteran scout, and our expert Romina (to see how well she would perform).  We easily defeated Frost and Emily.  However, when we reached Celine's room, we noticed that our clan leader had disappeared (his PC crashed) so it was a bit of a challenge to defeat Celine.  Celine was able to defeat Lisa a few times at which point, either the scout or our Romina would have to wake her up.  There were quite a few instances where our Romina had to wake up both the scout and Lisa while leading Celine around in circles so that the scout can apply addition medical attention.

Mario was also quite a challenge since our Romina was only able to do 28 damage (56 critical) per hit.  It took a long time and at times we thought it was a stalemate but we were able to defeat him at the end.  We used invisible potions to get past the guards in the long hallway since time was short but our team was eventually defeated by the Wounded Mario when his health was almost depleted.  His burn effects prevented our Romina from waking up the others in time.

Hell Breaker

Heading towards Hell Breaker
Hell Breaker has an attack that knocks everyone back.
The smoking charred remains of Hell Breaker.
The rewards were pretty terrible.
This morning, our family, our clan leader, a former clan member, and 2 members of TheOne (F.F.Heroes and perez20) visited the Toukbal Mine to find and defeat Hell Breaker. We actually arrived half an hour early so our small squad of 3 just milled around. About a minute before the designated time, the 2 members of TheOne arrived.  There was some confusion and possible glitches regarding the excavator switches but Hell Breaker did appear suddenly.

We were expecting the worst but surprisingly, the wide area attacks inflicted relatively little damage.  It was probably 40% damage to our veteran musketeer Iris, 20% to our expert scout Florence, and a mere 5% to our expert Grace. The turrets at the edges definitely did more damage. With all the other participants being master level, the whole battle only lasted a few minutes.

The rewards seemed pretty terrible or perhaps the other squad (the TO) got the Journal #10 and the Mysterious Steel Piece.  Our squad got a Pure Gold Bar and several Cast Iron Pieces.  In any case, no one has apparently picked up a Steel recipe.

A revelation

While wandering through Rion Hollow looking for our usual spot, the baron Belth (of the Aeon clan) chased down and defeated our Helena just now. Fortunately after a few seconds of fleeing, we had the revelation that Grace was currently part of our team (to quickly level the others) so instead of continuing to flee, we switched her weapon and turned back to confront the baron. The reward was a Mission Lobby Trinity Level 2.

Odd glow

That blue glow makes it seem as if she was floating on a cloud.
While shopping on the market tonight, we noticed a weapon spell effect that we've never seen before.  Specifically, we saw a bright blue cloud running in our direction and upon closer inspection, the source of the blue cloud is the gaiters that Soso was wearing. We wonder what type of weapon it was and didn't get a chance to ask them.

Continuing the quest line

She just loves to give little hints and innuendos doesn't she.

Even without the Terrible debuff, it will be difficult if not downright impossible to beat this mission at our level.  So we'll hold off on trying out the Fruholen Shield potion.

Perhaps he wouldn't be so hated if his services don't break your equipment.  Wonder how much he has saved from all the upgrades people pay him for.

Noting Arsene's last message, we continued the quest and ended up at the Republican safe house.

We decided to help Helena by providing 3 Elemental Jewels.

And now we have one more addition to our family.

Beat him again

Emboldened by last evening's success, we sent our elementalist Eloise alone through the sewers to the Bourgogne Palace.  She had to fight her way through more obstacles and managed to gain a Blue rough stone.  The Thunderstorm skill was way useful in shocking and eliminating multiple targets.  Eventually she made her way to Arsene and they had a battle of spells in the hallway.  Something of note that was key to survival this time was noticing when Arsene raised his arms with some blue swirl spell effects.  Whenever that happened, it was wise to do a strategic retreat.  With that in mind, we managed to complete the mission with 67 minutes to spare and without using Healing potions (only relying on the Moppet for healing).

We were pleasantly surprised as we didn't expect to get Ania so soon.

Now we have an extra family member to train.

Perhaps we should start saving the blunts that we find.
After the battle with Arsene, we ended up in front of Ania in El Dorado.  Since we were there, we had a chat and Ania joined our family.

Sweet revenge

Didn't expect magic did you!

Tonight, we fried Louis Arsene's behind. Adapting from the previous suggestion regarding metal armor users, we replaced Romina with our elementalist Eloise.  We were not expecting to win as Eloise was wearing a basic +4 Elite La Ventisca (total DR of 56) and using a +4 Veteran Ancestral Lightning Bracelet (total AR of 57) in the Possession Lightning stance.  However, as the battle raged on with flying cards/dice and Lightning being exchanged, we noticed that Eloise was able to survive all his various attacks.

Even when under the influence of Joker, our elementalist Eloise was able to survive the rest of his strikes long enough for Joker to wear off.  We didn't dare bring our scout within range to cast Healing so Eloise was solely surviving on the 750HP health potions.  It was so relaxing that we were able to take the time to actually read the description for Joker which reduces Attack, Defense, and Accuracy.  Seeing as how Possession Lightning already has 0 Accuracy and an extra large Attack value, Joker didn't seem to affect her attacks much, at least not enough to lose his attention.  As we were in the hallway, there was no one to use physical attacks on us either so we managed to complete the mission with more than 7 minutes to spare.

Test 2

We managed to find an affordable and relatively good metal armor on the market recently so we attempted to fight Arsene again. Taking the advice from a recent comment, we lured him out into the hallway so that the potential summoned help would not disturb us. Unfortunately, despite attempting it multiple times, we were unable to take away even 10% of his health so he didn't even need to summon Frost. Even with 61 DR, he was always able to defeat our team in 2 attacks when he tries, with his first attack doing 80 - 90% damage. That was so depressing that we logged off for the rest of the night..

Testing our mettle

Today, we tested the mettle of our experts against the battles that used to defeat us instantly.  Specifically, the mission involving Arsene (Ania's quest) and the Seal of Novia mission (Garcia's quest).  For the Seal of Novia mission, we were surprised to discover that we could survive the initial AOE spell strike but the 3 guardians still managed to defeat us in under 10 seconds. For the Arsene mission, we also survived his initial strike and most of his spells too.  Unfortunately, it took 14 minutes (out of the 30 minute limit) just to bring his health down to 75% and the duo team of Frost and Arsene managed to defeat us easily after that.  Since it took so long to bring Arsene's health down by so little, we predict that we will run out of time even if do manage to survive.

Poor again

This evening, we spent a large sum on vis to purchase an expensive Elite Dragon Coat for our Grace.  We had considered purchasing such an armor before but the general advice (from the active clan members) seemed to be to upgrade it and enchant it ourselves.  However, due to our average luck in upgrading and poor luck in using enchantment chips (never got AR/DR while using level 84 and level 92 chips), we were pretty much against gambling.  Hence, when we saw that the equivalent armor had dropped in price this week, we debated a little before making the purchase.

Really really hating Kings23 of the Aurora clan for their cowardly actions.  Our Grace is almost deleveled back to Veteran because of them.  We're really tempted to hire our hitman to take them out but they're not worth wasting vis on since vis is so precious nowdays.

Excrement Lumps to Gold Corn to Items

Tonight, we exchange the Gold Corn we've accumulated for  items in New Opoluto.  We received:
  • Handmade Chocolate 3x5 (+1000 HP) (pack of 3, received 5 times)
  • Level 90 F experience card 3x2
  • Amber Wasp Spinelle x2
  • Invisible Potion x2
  • Escudo Preffer Amber x1
  • Level 96 Enchantment Chip 2x1
  • Mooncake 2x1 (+1500 HP +500 SP)
  • Elite Storm Cockatrice Spinelle x1
  • Angler Spinelle x1
  • High Quality Ruby x2
  • Lucky Pouch 2x3 (+20% exp)
  • Level 92 Enchantment Chip 2x3
  • Spearfish 10x1
As we didn't farm the Excrement Lump ourselves, we plan to share some of the exchanged items with the family that gave the lumps to us.  There's actually a method to farming the Gold Corn from the Excrement Lumps and it doesn't involve rapidly checking the corn stalks for ripe corn.  Instead, there is a time interval of about 20 seconds per harvest over the entire field.

Accident in Skeleton Dungeon

While training Claire in the Skeleton Dungeon  (channel 3) this evening, we got bored and started using up some of our Mystic Spinelles.  The creatures that appeared were all easy until that came out.  It was a level 120 Elite Vedanobah (not entirely sure on the spelling but it started with a "V").  We weren't exactly sure what it was but in the darkness of the Skeleton Nest, it appeared to be a little hunchback man with a knife that was easily knocked down.  It mixed in with the hordes of skeleton warriors and lancers.  To our surprise and before we noticed it's level, it knocked out our expert Grace in seconds and defeated Emilia and Claire so quickly that Emilia was left standing confused.

As we didn't like to leave our messes for others to step on, we went back with our Fighter, expert Romina, and Emilia to take care of it.  It was a pain with the target being easily knocked down and our team being surrounded by skeletons.  We finally managed to drive it into a corner with about half of their health when to our surprise, we lost contact and was unable to reestablish contact for half an hour.  Obviously, our team with our strongest melee characters were defeated.

To that family standing within viewing distance, training their characters, we'd have to say "oops, sorry" if our summon caused them trouble.

Fourth Expert

All that's left is the wizard.
Using the Veteran experience cards from last night, we pushed our Grace to be promoted to Expert.  Grace had trained along with all the other members who were recently promoted and we brought a single Expert Promotion scroll just for her (instead of the 3 pack).  As no other characters in our family are even halfway from Veteran to Expert, it will be a long time, if ever, that we will see another promotion.

Idge's Chest II & the Crystal Shooter

We noticed that we have 3 Idge's Chest II in our inventory (from a promotion) and after a debate on whether to sell them or open them, we decided to satisfy our curiosity by opening them.  Inside, we found:
  1. Upgrade Accelerator x 10
  2. Crystal Shooter - A level 92 rifle.  Pictures below.
  3. Veteran G Experience Card x 5 - They give 14 million experience points each. (Exactly 10% of a veteran level).  We'll have our Grace use these later.
The Crystal Shooter matches Grace's gloves quite well.
We wonder how useful these initial enchantments are.  Perhaps we'll meet some Golems later to test it out.

On hold but for how long?

We visited Errac Terra Dias the other day to see how well or poorly our first team of Experts would do.  The results were not pretty as we were unable to take down even a lone target.  Just having one other target notice us was enough to defeat our team.  As getting the expert stances require farming this map for rare Ancient Runes and then getting a good squad to survive the even tougher creatures within the Occult dungeon, the situation looked pretty hopeless.  It's sort of funny how we have the symbols and the great stones but not the quest.

So combined with a few other issues (one of which is major and relatively personal), we decided to lock the quarters for the time being.  Of course, before doing so, we notified our clan first so that we didn't just suddenly disappear on them.  Perhaps if and when we journey into the world again, we can meet up with the clan leader of our previous clan who have also disappeared recently with no clear time for coming back.

Picture of the day

Whatever could Ghostleaf and we be doing?
Answer: Fleeing from a King of Greed when we got defeated in Team Arena.

First team of Experts completed

Tonight, we promoted our elementalist Eloise to be the third Expert in our family.  As such, our first team of Experts (melee/scout/dp) is complete.

Our second Expert promotion

This evening, we promoted our scout Florence to Expert.  So now we have a melee character and a scout as Experts and to complete our very first team, we would need to promote a damage dealer too.  For the stat points, we moved the previously assigned points from Intelligence to Constitution and also applied the new points to Constitution.  Hence, our scout now has 70 points in Constitution and should be more resistance to knock downs and may be able to survive well in tough areas.

As for general healing, we are now having our Emilia do the she can literally heal twice as much health as our scout (2000+ versus 1000+).

Crude Belt and Team Arena

Tonight, we participated in a random Team Arena.  By random, we mean that it was not the usual group of clan members and attendees.  Instead, Hollowz™, Shinriki, and our family were on the Yellow team while the Blue team consisted of 2 of our clan members and some random family (by the name of dragon something).  The Shinriki family appeared to left the Team Arena early on so it was mostly Hollowz™ that was doing the work of destroying the gates and defeating Dios.  Our Yellow team won and we received 6 Level 90 H experience cards from the treasure chest.

From the drops, Hollowz™ gave us a Crude Belt recipe, High Quality Ruby, High Quality Sapphire, High Quality Emerald, and 2 Level 96 Enchantment Chips.  We gave away the enchantment chips to our clan members on the blue team as they would otherwise have not gotten anything.

After some thought and consultation, we decided to craft the Crude Belt recipe.  We purchased 10 Mysterious Powders from the market for 10 million vis and 20 High Quality Cloth from the textile merchant in Port Coimbra for 940,000 vis.  The Crude Belt gives 3 Def and we had our Grace wear it as she had less defense than even our elementalist.

Something on the forum

There's an interesting topic on the forum regarding the replaced Sorceress Emilia (aka Reckless Emilia).  Instead of just getting a Constellation weapon and Emilia The Sage as compensation until Sorceress Emilia is fixed (at which point, they're get her back), the winners will get:
  • The Constellation weapon with perhaps the best enchantments and sockets.  Not entirely sure if it's pre-upgraded to +7 and if there is more than one weapon.
  • Elite Le Noir with perhaps the best enchantments.
  • Emilia The Sage - That used to be Sorceress Emilia
  • Sorceress Emilia - When the issue is fixed
  • Asoka - Yes, the ever popular and very rare one that is yet to be released
While their compensation doesn't directly affect us, it does leave a bad taste regarding how things are operated.

Test of damage

This morning, a fellow clan member of ours wanted to test something involving his Nar's defensive capabilities.  As we were the only ones awake at the time, we volunteered our expert Romina to go.  With the Trump sword, our Romina was only able to inflect 21 damage per strike and 43 per critical.  We think we disappointed him with our baby hits but as he didn't later ask anyone else to do it, perhaps the test was successful.

Female Zombies in Port Coimbra

Oh look, something shiny on the ground!

Grace is so tasty, everyone just wants a bite of her.

Guess the leader of the train got a little shy.
As Auch was so crowded with people and Muertos, we left for Port Coimbra and found it completely empty except for a few Muertos Fighters straggling about.  We thought about leading it to the cafe but since they walked so slowly, we became impatient.

Female Zombies in Auch

G1-Fynlo, the cause of the zombie outbreak.

A pair of Muertos Elementalist and a Muertos Musketeer

A pair of Muertos Fighters

We noticed that there was some sort of red symbol on her back.

That tilted head makes her all the creepier.

Tonight, we noticed an invasion of female Muertos in the City of Auch.  There were Muertos Elementalist, Fighters, Musketeers, and Wizards.  There didn't seem to be a particular reason why the males were missing but since these Muertos were all level 1, the most harm they could do is to other level 1 characters.  Summoned creatures were ineffective against them.

Buying based on a speculation

Tonight, we heard of a speculation/tip from a fellow clan member about enchantment stats.  They had wanted to purchase a 30 million vis pistol from the market that had a high dinosaur attack bonus.  However, as they did not have the liquid assets at the time, they did not make the purchase.  Checking the market later, we found the pistol being relisted at 25 million vis so we took the chance and purchased it.  The current statistics on the pistol are:
  • Desert Storm (30AR with an innnate +10 ACC)
  • Critical +11
  • 4% chance to Fear
  • 40% Attack bonus against Daemons
  • 95% Attack bonus against Dinosaurs
If the speculation is correct, at least one of these statistics will change on the next update.  If the speculation is incorrect, then at least we have a pistol against Daemons.

Very first Expert

This morning, Romina was promoted to be our family's very first Expert.  It was a very long training process and we don't know when or if any other members of our family will be promoted.  Still, it is a milestone and one for the records.

While checking the prices on the market, we noticed that a Great Stone averages around 5 million vis while a Expert Promotional Scroll was exactly 60 million.  Since a Great Stone costs at most of 100 Gold and a Expert Promotional Scroll costs at most of 400 Gold, either the Great Stone is still extraordinarily cheap or the scrolls are still expensive.  We didn't check the prices of other items to determine which is true but we're guessing the former.

Weekend progress

Our Romina reached Veteran level 10 sometime in the early morning hours before our connection was disconnected.  This meant that a second type of Mudmen (our of 4) became brown to us.  We can visibly see the experience gain being cut to one third of the original value when defeating the brown Mudmen types.  Still, the possibility of having our very first Expert is within reach so that excites us.

None of our other Veteran family members have gained or is close to gaining a level this weekend despite the time they've spent in the Skeleton Ancient Area.  In fact, a lag spike actually wiped out our Grace and elementalist, leaving our scout all alone.  Continued lag affected our Grace's firing speed which made it hard to survive.  Hence, we switched our lineup to an all melee team.

Grim-wraith, a 1 hand sword
Tonight, we received the Grim-wraith, 1 High Quality Ruby, and 3 Level 92 Enchantment chips as a reward for participating in one of the quickest Team Arenas ever.  As we've never that this particular type of sword before nor have we seen any up close, we decided to write this entry about it.  Unfortunately, the weapon had no enchantments and we doubt that we will be spending any enchantment chips on it since we already have a Unique Trump 1 hand sword.

Last evening through today was frustrating due to 4 disconnects.

Another free Witch Hat?

From MMOSite
The hat gives +300 to the maximum health points for 30 days when equipped on a basic female character.  We originally thought it was the WillUSurvive giveaway but apparently it's just the hat this time and requires a generated key.

AA and the grind

Our Romina has been training in the skeleton AA for the past week and today, we noticed that Mudman Defender (level 102) appears brown.  As Romina had just turned Veteran level 9 (level 108), we guess that the range for the yellow name is 5 levels.  Hence, if Romina gets to Veteran level 10, then the Mudman Soldier (level 103) will also turn brown.  Perhaps we'll have another character train there and use Romina in some other place later.

An Elementalist's "provoke"

Recently, we saw a comic strip on the forums about how an Elementalist's feminine charm attracted more attention than a Fighter's Provoke.  Although we didn't use a fighter in this instance, it was still pretty amusing to see all the Mudman creatures exclusively hitting on her while ignoring Grace who is doing the work of shooting them down one by one.

Andre's Portmanteau III

Tonight, we decided to open the Portmanteau boxes that we received awhile ago.
  1. Layered Bob
  2. Layered Bob - We now have 4 of these.  We'll save these in hopes that they may sell in a few months
  3. Level 92 Enchantment Chip x3
  4. Angler Spinelle
  5. Blackness Rose costume - Maybe we'll make a male wizard to try this out
  6. Level 100 Enchantment Chip
  7. Level 92 Enchantment Chip x3
  8. Earth Stone x2
  9. Level 92 Enchantment Chip x3
  10. Level 90H Experience Card x3 (920k each)

Some hairs and a ring

Highlights of today included:
  1. Purchasing the Fairy Bob hairstyle for the female elementalist from the market for 45 million vis.  It seems pricey but that's the lowest price we've seen on the market for it.
  2. Purchasing 2 Layered Bob hairstyles for the female scout for 1000 vis each.  Although we already have our scout wearing the Layered Bob and the price of the Layered Bob has dropped because of the Andre 3 boxes that were injected recently, it's still too good to pass up costumes that are a mere 1000 vis each.
  3. Elemental Penetration ring from tonight's Team Arena.  Having the ring means that our elementalist can have +1 AR when the skill is active.

Reckless news

This may possibly be the last Reckless Emilia that we will encounter in awhile due to all the Reckless Emilia characters becoming sane again.  Well actually, they are being converted to Emilia the Sage as indicated by the forums.  Apparently, Reckless Emilia had the ability to somehow create infinite vis.

Monday, October 4, 2010

Since we brought an outfit for the Coimbra Trooper, we may as well get the Kalid costume for Jose.  This completes the list of costumes that we wanted to get for our family.  The remaining costumes that we are pondering on are the ones for Yegenah and Angie, neither of which we've recruited.

Coimbra Centurion

With the Coimbra Centurion costume for the Coimbra Trooper, our Soldier Spirits team is now fully decorated.

Regiment Uniform

Next up on our list of just acquired desired costumes is the Regiment Uniform for the Auch Infantry.  The new uniform at least distinguishes our Auch Infantry from all the other Auch Infantries hanging about Auch.

Von Trapp costume

Tonight, we discovered that all the permanent costumes will be removed from the bazaar.  Therefore, we brought some of our desired costumes before they become hard or impossible to get.  We were unable to get all the remaining costumes on the bazaar nor do we want to as we don't have all of the characters to wear them.

First up is the Von Trapp costume (body and hat).  We're not sure what the appeal of this costume is but just about all the combat oriented Catherine characters that we've encountered was wearing one.

Cineraria costume

The other night, we managed to get a closer look at the Cineraria costume.  It was difficult to take pictures of it as the Emilia wearing it was in the mist of battle.

Iris Chipao

Iris Chipao - Front view

Iris Chipao - Back view
Last night, we managed to purchase the Iris Chipao costume from the market for 50 million vis.  We think the seller was FableLienhart as their family still has about 5 of those listed for the same price.
